NZ's Sunshine Capital

Whakatane has a relaxed lifestyle and a great deal to offer.

Statistics prove that Whakatane’s weather is amongst the best in NZ.  Often with the highest sunshine hours in the country and almost 76% of it’s rain falling at night, Whakatane has its own little micro climate.  A narrower temperature band ensures you’ll be warmer in winter and cooler in summer.  You won’t get blown about at Coastlands either.  We have a relatively wind free climate and enjoy light off shore breezes for a good part of the year.

You'll feel good here in Whakatane, especially on those crisp winter days when the sun pours out its warmth on the town.  Everyday feels like a holiday.

Great Cities within one hour's travel

In just one hour’s drive, you could also enjoy the attractions of Rotorua or Tauranga, Whakatane’s nearest city neighbours.

Plus you could be in Auckland within a short 40 minute flight.

Every day, there are return flights to Auckland and hence to anywhere in NZ, or the world for that matter!

Coastlands is just 5 minutes from Whakatane’s quirky airport, an iconic Roger Walker design from the 70's.
